Cheers,

Back in October we did a family shoot for Tamara, Trevor and their daughter Jordyn. We wanted to do a composite photo and Tamara suggested we turn one of Jordrn's drawing into a photo. I wasn't sure how I wanted to do this. I started out trying to do a "literal" interpretation of Jordyn's picture... Like having the sun two colours, making the rainbow super small and stretching out the subjects. After plenty of failed attempts I took the elements of the photo and placed them in semi realistically. .. except the floating hearts... those look just like they do in real life .... .... I'm was ok with the end product. I gave to it Tamara and waited nervously for her response. She liked it and said it got "smiles all around from Jordyn" That's what matters to me, even if I'm not sure about what I did, it made someone else smile.
Cheers, Sarah

It's quite fun wrapping people up in Christmas lights. This image is one of my most requested Christmas photos and I never get bored of recreating this image. I love seeing how each kid reacts to having their patents wrapped up! This year we added to the image by turning to around and tangling up the kids as well.
There's still plenty of time to book a holiday photo shoot!! Cheers, Sarah Incendia Motus is a circus troop that spits hot fire. (!! Dave Chappelle reference!!) Shawn and I love them and now you will too!!
This is a pretty weak blog post but the photos will make up for my lack of rambling... I swear. Oh click on the smaller images to enlarge them!! Cheers, Sarah What an awesome Tuesday it was. We had three shoots today! The first was Jessica and Adam's engagement photo shoot. We went to a park I'd never heard of before because it had the ever elusive TEETER TOTTER or see-saw. I've wanted to make of photo kids being launched of teeter totters but so far I've only had adults...so is you want a picture of you or one of your kids launching your other kid off a teeter totter message me. Let's make it happen.
Congratulations Jessica and Adam! I can't wait till the wedding!!! Cheers, Sarah This was a really fun shoot! I've known Shyann since high school. She was up here for a weekend and wanted to get some photos done with her Mom, Sandra and daughter, Keira. Keira was a smiling machine as you'll see. Since it was wicked cold outside on Saturday, and everyone was from away, I decided to do the shoot in the Chocolate Lake Hotel lobby. I was a bit worried about this idea.. if it would be busy, the quality/colour of the lights and if it would look we were in a hotel. My fears were.. umm what's the word..? unfounded?? hmm Whateves, what I mean is that I was worried about nothing. The images are beautiful, Shyann, Sandra and Keira were such wonder company, and we stayed nice and cozy inside. All in all it was an awesome shoot!
Cheers, Sarah Shawn and I love Halifax Circus! Absolutely everyone there is kind, and caring and gives wonderful hugs. We feel very much at home when we're with them. We got to photograph the students performances at Nocturne. There were SO MANY people that attended!!! These guys put on a show about every 15 to 20 minutes for over 6 hours. ... A-MAZ-ING. .. ... that should word should have fit on one line.. now it looks weird.. I could fix it but I've gone too far.. ahhh circus right. So yeah, Everyone gave great performances and I was super excited by the images I took. The best is being able to zoom into the crowd to see the awe and amazement on everyone faces. I hope all the students who preformed get to see them. So with out further a dew (is that spelled right??) or rambling.. THE IMAGES!!!
That title is awful, I'll work on that. We did more pictures with baby Layal and her parents, (our awesome friends) Noor and Moose!! This shoot took two attempts I think, which was awesome for Shawn and I because we got to spend so much time with everyone! Layal ended the photo shoot by creating a poop emergency, letting everyone know she was done with being a model for the day. Noor and Layal are visiting family in Dubai until February!!! Layal is gonna change so much, They've only been gonna for less then a week and we miss them already. Have a fun trip guys! Moose we'll see you soon and play lots of Diablo and Noor see you next year!! AHH!
Cheers, Sarah & Shawn Also this happened... This past weekend Shawn and I took photos of Tamara and her lovely family at the Frog Pond. Their little girl, Jordyn, was so much fun!! Jordyn, Shawn and I pet a sun bathing dragon fly and Jordyn even helped me take photos of it. The photo to the left ..wait left.. yes left.. is was taken with Jordyns help. I can't wait to share the super cool composite Im doing for them. Tamara suggested I use one of Jordyns drawings and bring to life some how! I'm super excited about it. It's the first time I've done a composite like this and there are so many different was to go about it.... but that's for another blog post!! Cheers, Sarah Hillsburn IS AMAZING! They are a Halifax-based folk pop band and I suck with words so I can't say the right things to explain how awesome their music is and what wonderful people Rosanna, Paul, Jackson and Clayton are.
But I can show you photos from our shoot out in Prospect! I hate dinosaurs... I don't know how to finish that sentence. Also it's a very confusing way to start a blog post for an image featuring a dinosaur. OK, how about this, I hate scientific dinosaur stuff but enjoy dino memes, cartoons, them eating people etc. This image was inspired The Simpsons episode Bart Sells His Soul. Bart sells his soul (just like the title promised) to Milhouse for five bucks. He then buys one of those sponge dinos that you add water too. He figures that when he adds water the dinosaur will grow huge and eat Lisa. Shawn and I looked everywhere for these sponge dinosaurs and couldn't find them. So we had to make our own. The first two that Shawn made were sad and hilarious looking ... there are no words. Only tears from laughing. Our friends, JP and Melissa, have two awesome kids we love taking photos of. Emilia was super excited for this picture. She loved playing with the hose and soaking the dinosaurs Shawn made. I loved how it came together. I also added the Clever Girl reference from Jurassic Park. I figured it was fitting since I used a velociraptor !! Cheers, Sarah |
