Another week and another drink image. This time we tackled a cake batter martini. I struggled with this one. I shot all the images and edited them together three different times before we arrived at the one we liked. It was stressful, not being able to get the images to look how they looked in my head. But there was soooo soooo much cake, which we all know eases the pain. Also Shawn drank the gross milk that the sprinkles were drowned in...*shudder* Helpful tip- Dollar Store sprinkles are GROSS. They look great but they so let you down in the flavour department. But this drink won't !! (see what I did there... ehh?) Ingredients 2 ounces of cake vodka 1 ounce of white chocolate liqueur (substitute chocolate liqueur if you want a chocolate cake taste) 3 ounces milk Mix the ingredients in a martini shaker and add crushed ice. Shake well, then strain into a martini glass. Add ice cubes if preferred to complete the drink. For garnish, have fun with this one and be creative. For the rim, add a light layer of vanilla frosting and roll in cake sprinkles. A birthday candle, a sparkler, and anything else unique can be added to the drink for a great effect. Cheers, Sarah We have a new on going project that I'm super excited about, surreal drink images. I've tried product photography before and struggled with it. My brain just doesn't like things that aren't crazy I guess....but with this project we're given a drink recipe and we create an image in the style I'm most comfortable shooting--surreal. The first drink was a crazy cocktail using vodka, frozen Skittles, cream soda and licorice. The shoot was so fun and so yummy. We made it rain Skittles over and over again, got my camera lens covered in cream soda and ate soooo much licorice. Good times. I'm really pleased with how the final image turned out. I am forever grateful for Shawn always looking out for me, making sure I take enough "background images". Even when I say I have them he makes me check, because usually I don't, and then freak out when I get home and make everything that much harder on myself. *sigh* Anyways I hope you like the image. Try out the cocktail and let me know in the comments how it tastes!! Ingredients 1 ounce flavored vodka (watermelon or cherry) 1 ounce Sour Puss Raspberry 4 ounces cranberry juice 1 ounce Cream Soda Mix the cranberry juice with the vodka and Sour Puss. Then, when ready to serve, add the Cream Soda. Instead of serving over ice, add your favorite chilled hard candy. We suggest Jolly Ranchers or Skittles that were left in the freezer overnight. For that added touch, a piece of cherry licorice completes the drink. Cheers, Sarah Here is a quick and fun way to add a splash of colour to your photos. No computer skills needed! All you need is:
Paint the plastic anyway you want with your favourite colours. Wait for it to dry and tear a hole in the middle. Strap it on your lens with an elastic band and your all set! Happy shooting! Cheers, Sarah & Shawn |
