If the title is confusing, this link may help. ... ... ok here's a super huge beach post! First Andrea, Shane and their daughters! Then Mel came home. We got to meet baby Vivian, and made a "Frozen" castle for Princess Elsa, aka Sammy. With Ava, Pat and Lydia we made sand castles and played with bubbles. All these photos were taken at Conrads Beach. Its super nice for photos but not as nice as Queensland for swimming. This blog post was lacking funny stuff or rambling. hmmm. Next time I promise.
Cheers, Sarah

We did a family shoot at Sullivan's Pond in Dartmouth on the weekend. We also took slow motion footage of bees!!! So cool, We're thinking of starting a youtube vlog, (cus everyone needs to see more of me) and the slow-mo bee footage would be awesome, I don't have my channel going yet so heres a still! ANNNNDD here are the family photos!! ......ok ONE more bee picture. All bee pics were taken by Shawn!
That rhymes Marge and you know it rhymes, admit it. Yes, this shoot was filled with poops, on all the things but look at the pictures!!! This little guy was a trooper...hehe that also rhymes with pooper... He stayed happy and cozy for the entire shoot, except the 3 times I tried to put an owl hat on him. I tried some new edits with the shoot. I borrowed a tablet from a friend and practised drawing frame overlays in photoshop. It took 3 X-File episodes to be able to make lines that weren't insanely crooked. I think they look pretty sweet, it's something I'll definitely keep doing. Also HOW AWESOME IS X-FILES??? Like what was I doing with my life in the 90's? Not watching X-Files, ugh. It's like Supernatural but with ALIENS. So good. Cheers,
Sarah This was a really fun shoot! I've known Shyann since high school. She was up here for a weekend and wanted to get some photos done with her Mom, Sandra and daughter, Keira. Keira was a smiling machine as you'll see. Since it was wicked cold outside on Saturday, and everyone was from away, I decided to do the shoot in the Chocolate Lake Hotel lobby. I was a bit worried about this idea.. if it would be busy, the quality/colour of the lights and if it would look we were in a hotel. My fears were.. umm what's the word..? unfounded?? hmm Whateves, what I mean is that I was worried about nothing. The images are beautiful, Shyann, Sandra and Keira were such wonder company, and we stayed nice and cozy inside. All in all it was an awesome shoot!
Cheers, Sarah I hate dinosaurs... I don't know how to finish that sentence. Also it's a very confusing way to start a blog post for an image featuring a dinosaur. OK, how about this, I hate scientific dinosaur stuff but enjoy dino memes, cartoons, them eating people etc. This image was inspired The Simpsons episode Bart Sells His Soul. Bart sells his soul (just like the title promised) to Milhouse for five bucks. He then buys one of those sponge dinos that you add water too. He figures that when he adds water the dinosaur will grow huge and eat Lisa. Shawn and I looked everywhere for these sponge dinosaurs and couldn't find them. So we had to make our own. The first two that Shawn made were sad and hilarious looking ... there are no words. Only tears from laughing. Our friends, JP and Melissa, have two awesome kids we love taking photos of. Emilia was super excited for this picture. She loved playing with the hose and soaking the dinosaurs Shawn made. I loved how it came together. I also added the Clever Girl reference from Jurassic Park. I figured it was fitting since I used a velociraptor !! Cheers, Sarah Shawn and Krishna "encourage me" (tell me to stop being stupid and just try) to take more photos of outdoors. I typically don't like doing this. I'd rather just stand in nature than to take photos of it. But I'm starting to come around. The images are pleasing and easy to shoot. And people seem to like looking at them. We'll see how it goes. Don't worry, I won't turn into a landscape photographer. Pinky Promise. Krishna wanted a photo of him against an amazing starry sky with a Nova Scotia feel. We went to Peggy's Cove and waited for all the people to leave. There were a few teenagers smoking-they do bad things because they listen to music with swears-but we scared them away. Shawn helped by running blindly over the rocks looking for the perfect angle to shoot from. Krishna sat still perfectly LOL! After several attempts in photoshop, and some rough draft by Shawn we got the image you see below! I really love it. Thank you Shawn, Krishna for encouraging me to do things I don't wanna do for no good reason. Cheers, Sarah Upon closer inspection the sun set image was just begging for an inspirational hipster quote treatment. I used some wise words from LiL Jon. Update! We went out again! This time to Citadel Hill and the Halifax water front. Also Theodore The Tugboat was there.
Yesterday we decided to hold a quick contest on our Facebook page. The first person to reply to the post got a shoot where they would get water balloons thrown at them. I was worried no one would enter. I was stupid to worry lol. So many people wanted it that I had to opened it to the first three people to respond. Then I got messages about it so now I think I have a total of five people and two families that want to water ballooned in the face. I love you guys. Jessica was our first shoot. WE'RE SO SORRY AGAIN JESSICA. Who would have thought that the balloons would just bounce off her face and not pop. After a few tries, Jessica went to put her dogs in and Shawn looked horrified. He whispered, "I can't do this. I feel awful. You do it." NOPE. I had Shawn stand on the cooler and drop the balloon on Jessica's head and SUCCESS!!! The next shoot was for Stu, which his girlfriend Megan set up. Stu had no idea what we planned. So we set up, Shawn covertly got a water balloon and BAM- the water balloon BOUNCED off the top of Stu's head and slightly messed up his hair. FAIL. After that we had tons of fun soaking each other and managed to get so amazing pictures. I can't wait till to do more!! Cheers, Sarah We did more!!!! Swasti was our next target and of course Shawn and I had at it.
Shawn and I went out last night to try to see some of the Perseid meteor shower. We saw a grand total of 2 meteors. Wow. But I did bring my camera and took photos of the moon. The moon was crazy!! It was so red as it started to rise, and super huge too. We went to Crystal Crescent Beach, where we have run into/(I) have followed many porcupines. I totally heard porcupines talking last night, I've watched enough youtube videos of Teddy the porcupine to know what one sounds like. It was too dark for me to see so I didn't go looking for it. Which is probably for the best. The series of photos would have been me getting closer and closer to the porcupine, then one of the ground and then one of me at the hospital because I tripped and fell on the poor guy. Yes, it's probably for the best. Until next time porcupine. (I'm doing the thing where you look all squinty and point at your eyes.)
Cheers, Sarah Well hot damn. Noor is one BEAUTIFUL (among other things like strong, kind, caring, and amazing) Momma. Shawn and I have been friends with Moose since 1996 and we've known Noor since .. ughhh I forget but it's been at least 10 years. I'm so happy we were able to take these photos from them. The last photo in the gallery was taken by Moose for Noor- there are no edits on it, it straight from the camera. Moose also took the picture to the left. Moose is a chemist but he said he's wants to be a photographer now. Moose, Noor, I'm so happy to have you two as friends. Also I can't wait to go watch the new Ninja Turtles Movie with you. I know Shawn feels the same-- about being friends with you, I have no clue if he's excited about the movie. Back in June we held a contest on Facebook for a creative photo shoot. Lisa entered and won with her idea for a super hero styled shoot at a play ground. First, Shawn and I went searching for an awesome play ground, which was harder than we thought. A lot of play grounds around here don't look fun at all. The one we loved was at Le Marchent St. Thomas. It was awesome and kinda futuristic looking. We decided to do an X-MEN themed shoot, where Xander was at school, learning to use his powers, fight and do other X-MEN-y things. Second, I went searching for materials to make Xander's costume. I found all of what a needed at Value Village and sewed it up. It's a super ambitious project, lots of editing, lot's of learning new, better techniques and lots of fun/screaming and swearing at the monitor. That was a really long sentence..... anyway. I hope you enjoy the first image! There are 4 more to come so stay tuned!!! Same X-MEN time. Same X-MEN channel. Cheers, Sarah |
