Yup. Definitely better. Krishna didn't pose for this picture, lol, I found that on his Facebook.
Cheers,
Sarah
Unnnnnnn I hate not knowing how to start blog posts. I'll just start typing... So here we have the WONDERFUL SAM!! We met Sam while she was a hair dresser at One Block and became awesome friends. Sam moved to Life Spa and wanted some fun pictures to put up in The Coast to advertise her move. Seriously, Sam's skin in the second photo KILLS ME. Sam's a beautiful human being inside and out. The last photo is of Sam's cat Doey, who was more than willing to help tear the sheet down. Here's Krishna. He's currently sitting here playing Diablo 3 with Shawn. NERDS. Now they're making fun of each other and sarcastically narrating each others game play. For Krishna this is 1 of 5 portraits we're doing for him. They were to be entered into a contest, but we got side tracked and missed the submission date. This one was not for the contest. This was just for my amusement. The original photo had Jerry Seinfeld in it and was an ad for American Express. This version is slightly better. Yup. Definitely better. Krishna didn't pose for this picture, lol, I found that on his Facebook. Cheers, Sarah

I love Tumblr. Most of my internet time is spent on Tumblr. It's so random and funny. I came across this the other day and had to share. Now that's how to Photoshop.
Cheers, Sarah I hate dinosaurs... I don't know how to finish that sentence. Also it's a very confusing way to start a blog post for an image featuring a dinosaur. OK, how about this, I hate scientific dinosaur stuff but enjoy dino memes, cartoons, them eating people etc. This image was inspired The Simpsons episode Bart Sells His Soul. Bart sells his soul (just like the title promised) to Milhouse for five bucks. He then buys one of those sponge dinos that you add water too. He figures that when he adds water the dinosaur will grow huge and eat Lisa. Shawn and I looked everywhere for these sponge dinosaurs and couldn't find them. So we had to make our own. The first two that Shawn made were sad and hilarious looking ... there are no words. Only tears from laughing. Our friends, JP and Melissa, have two awesome kids we love taking photos of. Emilia was super excited for this picture. She loved playing with the hose and soaking the dinosaurs Shawn made. I loved how it came together. I also added the Clever Girl reference from Jurassic Park. I figured it was fitting since I used a velociraptor !! Cheers, Sarah That title needs work. I love Alice In Wonderland. I love the books, the made for t.v. movie and most of all I love the Alice games(American McGee's Alice and Alice: The Madness Returns). I don't think I like the Disney Alice In Wonderland however. I don't think I've ever used Alice that many times in a sentence. OK anyway- I wanted to make a series of Alice images that I hadn't seen done before. Years ago I tried to use a pop-up book as the background for an image I was doing. It was Beauty and the Beast and I tried to put a person in the book, as Belle, with the Beast. It didn't work at all. Not even a little bit. But that's when I was younger and suckier at Photoshop. Now I'm older and way better with Photoshop. ----weird how the old me was the young me--- Shawn and I bought an Alice In Wonderland pop-up book and asked our LOVELY AND WONDERFUL friend Danielle if she would model for us. And model she did. Danielle was amazing. She helped soo much- she came up with how to wear her hair, her make-up and what she felt Alice should wear. AMAZING. You know who else is amazing? 1.Shawn, for helping with the hours of Photoshop this one image took. Shawn watched Photoshop tutorials with me and helped me analyze the lights and shadows and how to add them into this image. 2.Erin. Erin works at Just Us, with Danielle. She made us the coffee that kept us going while we were editing. Erin also gave us helpful critique when we needed it. Enough rambling here's the first in the series of three Alice images. ENJOY!!! Cheers, Sarah ....did you find the cat?
Shawn and Krishna "encourage me" (tell me to stop being stupid and just try) to take more photos of outdoors. I typically don't like doing this. I'd rather just stand in nature than to take photos of it. But I'm starting to come around. The images are pleasing and easy to shoot. And people seem to like looking at them. We'll see how it goes. Don't worry, I won't turn into a landscape photographer. Pinky Promise. Krishna wanted a photo of him against an amazing starry sky with a Nova Scotia feel. We went to Peggy's Cove and waited for all the people to leave. There were a few teenagers smoking-they do bad things because they listen to music with swears-but we scared them away. Shawn helped by running blindly over the rocks looking for the perfect angle to shoot from. Krishna sat still perfectly LOL! After several attempts in photoshop, and some rough draft by Shawn we got the image you see below! I really love it. Thank you Shawn, Krishna for encouraging me to do things I don't wanna do for no good reason. Cheers, Sarah Upon closer inspection the sun set image was just begging for an inspirational hipster quote treatment. I used some wise words from LiL Jon. Update! We went out again! This time to Citadel Hill and the Halifax water front. Also Theodore The Tugboat was there.
Back in June we held a contest on Facebook for a creative photo shoot. Lisa entered and won with her idea for a super hero styled shoot at a play ground. First, Shawn and I went searching for an awesome play ground, which was harder than we thought. A lot of play grounds around here don't look fun at all. The one we loved was at Le Marchent St. Thomas. It was awesome and kinda futuristic looking. We decided to do an X-MEN themed shoot, where Xander was at school, learning to use his powers, fight and do other X-MEN-y things. Second, I went searching for materials to make Xander's costume. I found all of what a needed at Value Village and sewed it up. It's a super ambitious project, lots of editing, lot's of learning new, better techniques and lots of fun/screaming and swearing at the monitor. That was a really long sentence..... anyway. I hope you enjoy the first image! There are 4 more to come so stay tuned!!! Same X-MEN time. Same X-MEN channel. Cheers, Sarah Another week and another drink image. This time we tackled a cake batter martini. I struggled with this one. I shot all the images and edited them together three different times before we arrived at the one we liked. It was stressful, not being able to get the images to look how they looked in my head. But there was soooo soooo much cake, which we all know eases the pain. Also Shawn drank the gross milk that the sprinkles were drowned in...*shudder* Helpful tip- Dollar Store sprinkles are GROSS. They look great but they so let you down in the flavour department. But this drink won't !! (see what I did there... ehh?) Ingredients 2 ounces of cake vodka 1 ounce of white chocolate liqueur (substitute chocolate liqueur if you want a chocolate cake taste) 3 ounces milk Mix the ingredients in a martini shaker and add crushed ice. Shake well, then strain into a martini glass. Add ice cubes if preferred to complete the drink. For garnish, have fun with this one and be creative. For the rim, add a light layer of vanilla frosting and roll in cake sprinkles. A birthday candle, a sparkler, and anything else unique can be added to the drink for a great effect. Cheers, Sarah |
